Chemistry for life

Chemistry is a fundamental science; holding the keys to materials, food, Earth and biological sciences. Chemistry bares the footprints of all the things that we come across in our everyday lives. It allows us to understand the concepts of medicine and organic molecules; If we wish to advance as a species we need to understand chemistry. A great place to start in trying to share our passions for chemistry is via the younger generations; if you inspire the youth of today to have a greater respect for chemistry it can start to unlock new eras of chemists with keen hearts and attitudes towards the science around us.
The foundation for life
Everything around us is chemistry, from the chair you're sitting on to the food you consume. It's true when we say there is so much more to life than what we first visualise.

Take water for example, our earth is made up of 70% water, the land mass does not even make up half. The percentage of water in a 70kg male is around 60%. Water is made up of the two elements oxygen and hydrogen; one molecule of water will consist of two hydrogen's attached to one oxygen atom.

With in a cup of water there would be millions of these molecules all attached to one another by intermolecular forces called hydrogen bonds, these bonds are the result of electrostatic attractions between molecules of H20.

Chemistry is amazing and we're only just at the surface of what we can discover.
